Carl McCoy is on the cover of the new issue of Dominion magazine, which you can order online if it isn't at your local newsstand. If anyone has a copy, we'd love a transcription (or even a detailed description) of the article.

Those of you who missed the festivities at Brixton can feast your eyes on some gorgeous photos from the FOTN set here and here.

Lastly, John Carter's band XII now has its own Web site, which you can check out here.

Fields of the Nephilim played last night at a landmark goth gig with Gene Loves Jezebel and The Mission in Brixton. The set was short and contained no surprises, but earned raves from many folks who were there:

Shroud
Straight to the Light
Preacherman
From the Fire
The Watchman
Moonchild
Penetration
Zoon Part 3
Psychonaut
Last Exit for the Lost

Many thanks to Mark Quested, who was first to send the set list. By way of Twitter, here are a few brief reviews of the show:

@AnneSudworth: Fields of the Nephilim at Brixton - awesome as always!
@Julie HowellPR: That Fields of the Nephilim set was like a religious experience
@Nessaking: Fields of the Nephilim were awesome last nite in Brixton, still buzzing 0_o
@moggieboy: Can't believe how good Fields Of The Nephilim were last night. Wasn't particularly a fan BITD but they won me over big style...
@RealShipscook Last night the Fields of the Nephilim washed the floor with the Mission.

Bad news: the show scheduled for October 14 in Budapest has been canceled. No word as to why, but the folks who contacted me said the band and promoter hope to schedule a new date either at the end of this year or in early 2012.

On the other hand, an announcement from record label EMI came out today, saying that they are partnering with Fields of the Nephilim to release the "Ceromonies" DVD. There are no details yet regarding release dates, formats, or where the DVD will be available. We'll share more when we get it.

Early this year, FOTN was forced to cancel a show in Budapest after a fire broke out in the club they were scheduled to play and several people were killed in the ensuing stampede. The band has been able to schedule a new show in Budapest, this time on October 14 at Club 202. The opening act is a band called The Last Days of Jesus. Tickets and sales information can be found here.

Fields of the Nephililm has completely revamped its Web site. The new site is chock-full of useful links and information, from an extensive piece on the band to a lengthy discography, lots of photos, and links to the New Gold Dawn forum. One piece that still appears to be in the works is a history of the band, though most of it's included in the section titled "The Nephilim." Get yourself a cup of tea and head on over to poke around.

In addition, Carl McCoy recently commented on the upcoming gig with The Mission and Gene Loves Jezebel at the Brixton Academy. Here's what he said:

“It is well known that Fields of the Nephilim are very selective about where and when we perform live. There is always a greater significance underlying our shows. On this occasion we simply felt that the time had come to show that there is unity for all those who support the scene we are involved in. This will be a unique gathering of forces and a very memorable event. On another level I have a personal connection with this area of London and the venue in particular, and I look forward to returning to Brixton Academy.”

Ande Tucker, author of "Fields of the Nephilim: The Collector's Guide," is planning a series of online treasure troves for FOTN fans. The first, a comprehensive gigography, was unveiled today. Poke through and reminisce on all the gigs you did (or didn't) see during the band's heyday, and all the clubs that have vanished since those flour-dusted cowboy boots clomped across their stages.

Friday, April 1, 2011

Fields of the Nephilim announced today on the New Gold Dawn forum that they will be performing on October 22, 2011 at the Brixton Academy in London. They will be supporting The Mission, and Gene Loves Jezebel will be the opening act. I know this sounds like an April Fool's joke, but Ticketweb is already selling tickets for the event.

Saturday, March 19, 2011

It looks like Beggars Banquet will license a reissue of "Elizium" on vinyl soon, according to Ande Tucker, who helps maintain our discography and who authored the fabulous Fields of the Nephilim: the Collector's Guide. It doesn't sound like the album will be remastered, but if the reissue sells well, then more of FOTN's catalogue could be re-released. No word on a release date yet. We'll keep you posted.

Fields of the Nephilim announced this morning at the New Gold Dawn forum that the band is scheduled to play a show May 6 in Katowice, Poland. They'll play at the Mega Club, and tickets can be purchased at this link.

John Carter's new band, XII, will perform at the Gotham 12 Festival in London on May 29. Other artists will invlude Alice Mooing Under Skies, Suicide Party, Lilygun, Midnight Configuration, Joe Black, Gene Loves Jezebel and Specimen. For more info, check out this blog post from John.

Wednesday, February 9, 2011

John "Capachino" Carter, who worked with Carl McCoy in Fields of the Nephilim for the recording of Mourning Sun and subsequent gigs, has announced his new band, called XII ("Twelve"). You may recall that Carter announced last April he was decamping from FOTN to "widen his creative horizon without providing any further parts in future Nephilim projects."

XII now has its own MySpace page, where a blog post yesterday explains that the band is recording tracks for an album that will be released in the spring (whether he means spring of 2011 is less clear), followed by live shows. According to the blog, "Drama, Fear & Loathing, Romanticism & Sorrow, These are all central to XII's creative cell and have taken some time to fully understand and so represent in a balanced, honest way." Carter's bandmates include guitarist Shaun "Ripper" Dunne, guitarist "Alien" Dave Turner, and drummer Alex Martin. The page also features a handful of songs from the band, though you have to have a MySpace account to listen to them.

Stay tuned for more on XII...

Fields of the Nephilim gave us a little announcement today, perhaps in honor of Imbolc: they will be headlining this year's Wave-Gotik-Treffen Festival in Leipzig, Germany on June 12. When they go on sale, tickets will be available at this link.

Thursday, January 20, 2011

Rumors have been circulating on the message boards that FOTN might be able to find another a venue for their scheduled gig on the 28th of January in Budapest. The band's management has been in discussions with a number of venues in Budapest in an effort to find another home for the gig, but those discussions have not been successful. Unfortunately, it looks like if FOTN is going to play in Budapest, it won't happen this month. If and when the gig is rescheduled for another date, we will let you know.

Sunday, January 16, 2011

Bad news: the Fields of the Nephilim show scheduled for January 28 in Budapest has been canceled. Apparently a crowd of more than 2,500 people were at the club, the West Balkan, this weekend. A mass panic struck in the venue's staircase, and several people were trampled. At least three girls died in the stampede. The club is currently closed and it's unclear whether it will reopen.

As always, 2010 news has been moved to the archive. Happy New Year!
